Note to Bob

Comics phenomenon and renaissance man Bob Byrne has kindly posted up me (long overdue) 'Note to Bob' - have a gawk at it here. You should surely know the word on Bob already. If not, get with the program and check out the site and samples (particularly Mr. Amperduke) and his often inspired 'rants' section: rude, impassioned and funny cos it's true!

You Ain't No Dancer Anthology

If you're in Vancouver, Canada on Friday, September 26 go on up to Lucky's Comics on Main street for the launch of You Ain't No Dancer.

Time: 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Location: Lucky's Comics, 3972 Main St, Vancouver, BC

The flyer below features the megatastic cover artwork by Kazimir Strzepek:

You Ain't No Dancer Vol. 3 clocks in at 176 pages and contains 30 new stories from indy-comic favourites and up-and-comers. More information about the book and how to order can be found here.

There's an Inkstuds Interview with Ed Brisson and several other of the artists here.

I've got a ten page story called 'Ricky' in there. I'll miss the launch unfortunately but it's sure to be great occasion with original artwork from the book on display as well as many of the artists in attendance.

Goal Anthology

Liam and myself have a story in the just released Goal Anthology - a very worthy cause and by all accounts a cracker line-up of contributions and top printing job. More details and how to get one here. The launch party is on this Sunday 21st September at 9.30 in the Stag's Head - come along if you're in Dublin. Created, organised and co-ordinated by Cliodhna Lyons in memory of her Dad who worked with Goal, her excellent cover is below and the ComicCast interview here.

Note to Mike

Good buddy and master pensmith Mike Myhre was kind enough to put up a pic of a note up on his blog you'll never see here (cos I didn't get to scan it). Have a thorough rummage through the blog and check out Mike's excellentastic line work and colour sense while you're at it.

Gazebo and Comiccast Launch

If you're in Ireland and you're about Dublin city on Wednesday 9th July come on down to the launch party for Gazebo (a comic Liam Geraghty and I did) and The Comic Cast (a new Irish-based comics podcast hosted by Craig O'Connor and Liam Geraghty) and say hullo.

LOCATION : Downstairs in Thomas Reads, Dame Street, Dublin.

DATE/TIME : Wednesday 9th July / From 7.30pm

Music on the night from Schmackey and the Salads and Mary Bellos.

Gazebo (cover above) will be on sale on the night too.

The Comic Cast is a new fortnightly comic-book (both superhero and indy) based podcast. Every two weeks the show will alternate between a discussion show (comics news, comic book films, etc) to an interview show (interviews with mainly Irish artists/writers/designers/illustrators). The first podcast is available to listen to/download now at www.thecomiccast.com and the first interview podcast is with Chris Judge which will be available from the launch party date (Chris did the deadly two heads banner art above).

Liam put together some rather groovy youtube trailers for Gazebo here
and the comic cast here.

Matter #9

I didn't manage to get the latest comic finished for the Vancouver comic con last weekend so I put together this compilation of short strips instead. Don't get too excited - they have all appeared on the site previously although haven't existed in print before. Its a colour cover, strictly limited to 25 copies (not that many left) and won't be reprinted. It also contains a checklist explaining the wonky numbering and you can even trade it in for the new comic due mid-april. Order from the comics page.
